Giving

Giving is very much up to you and between you and God.  It is up to you to decide what is appropriate for you to give, according to your means.  Giving can be money, but time and talents are even more important.  The Church family needs us all to do our part to support the mission of our Churches in Calne.  See the section on activities to find out about ways that you can give time and use talents.

Planned Giving is important because it helps to put the practicalities of the life of our Churches on a firm foundation.  There are a number of ways that you can make regular financial contributions these are listed below.  Please remember that whatever you give is confidential between you and the Treasurer. If that's not right for you then an ad hoc gift would be most welcome and the Give a Little scheme works well for this.

Parish Giving Scheme

If you would like to give on a regular basis you might like to consider using the Parish Giving Scheme.

The churches in Bremhill, Derry Hill and Foxham use this scheme as a way of ensuring a regular source of income for our church. It is very simple: anyone may donate, the only thing that is fixed is the date on which a donor’s contribution is collected – it’s always the first day of the month. The donor decides the amount they will give, and how often – monthly, quarterly or annually; and may allow the PGS to apply an annual increase to an individual’s contribution in line with the rate of inflation – they always contact the donor well in advance of any annual increase to check that the increase is acceptable. If the donor is also able to make a Gift Aid declaration, then PGS will reclaim 25% of any donation from HMRC. All of the donor’s money goes to the nominated church, plus the associated Gift Aid. Usually on the 10th of the month the basic donation gets to our bank, followed a few days later by the reclaimed Gift Aid.

PGS has set up a phone line 0333 002 1271, by which prospective donors can set up a regular Direct Debit donation to their parish – no forms to fill in!

If you wish to join the scheme you will need to quote the relevant parish code and the call handlers will guide you through the process.

Calne & Blackland

Gift Aid is not quite money for old rope, but for those who can Gift Aid their giving is increased by 25p in every £1.  All that is is required is a signature on one of our declarations.  Speak to Kathryn Miller or Graham Spencer for more information.

You can also give via bank transfer to Calne and Blackland Parochial Church Council.  90-01-53 a/c number 19503283

Planned Giving Envelopes

These are provided for our regular givers to put into the collection plate each Sunday.  We will supply you with a pack of envelopes, one for each week of the year.  The use of a unique reference number allows our treasurer to know who you are and to take advantage of the gift aid scheme.

Yellow Giving Envelopes

There are yellow envelopes in the pews in our churches which can be put into the collection plate. If you write your name, address and signature in the spaces provided this enables us to claim gift aid on the amount contained in the envelope.

Standing Order

You can instruct your bank to give to the Church on a regular weekly or montly basis.  The forms to do this are available in the Churches or by contacting our treasurer.

Legacies

You can remember the Parish in your will.  Speak to the Treasurer if you require any further information about this way of giving.
